In an era dominated by rapid technological advancement and digital innovation, staying updated and competitive in one’s career is more crucial than ever. I always tell leaders, think of yourself as an app that needs upgrading and bug fixes on a regular basis. Thanks to ChatGPT it’s never been easier to do this.

I actually put together an entire course called Leadership GPT The Top 10 Ways You Can Use ChatGPT To Become A Better Leader which goes over things like using ChatGPT to become a better communicator, culture and team building, professional development, crisis management, meeting preparation and more. I actually share my screen and walk you through everything and give you a downloadable set of prompts. You can learn more and sign up here.

Imagine that you are in marketing and you want to transition into a data analytics role. Clearly you will need a professional development plan with recommended courses, books, or programs that you should sign up for to prepare you for this role.

You can go into ChatGPT and type in: “Develop a 6-month learning roadmap for a team member transitioning into a data analysis role from a marketing role.”

Here’s what that prompt will give you

Month 1–2: Foundation in Statistics and Analytics

  • Objective: Understand basic statistics and how they apply to data analysis.
  • Resources:

- “Statistics for Business and Economics” by Paul Newbold (Textbook)

- Coursera Course: “Statistics with Python” by the University of Michigan

  • Activities: Weekly exercises on statistical problems and bi-weekly virtual meetups with a mentor.

Month 3–4: Introduction to Programming (Python/R)

  • Objective: Gain proficiency in Python, focusing on libraries like pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib.
  • Resources:

- Codecademy’s “Learn Python” course

- DataCamp’s “Introduction to Python for Data Science”

  • Activities: Daily coding practice and projects analyzing real-world data sets.

Month 5–6: Advanced Data Analysis Techniques

  • Objective: Learn advanced data analysis techniques and start integrating machine learning models.
  • Resources:

- Udemy course: “Machine Learning A-Z”

- Book: “Hands-On Machine Learning with Scikit-Learn, Keras, and TensorFlow” by Aurélien Géron

  • Activities: Develop a capstone project utilizing the skills learned, aimed at solving a marketing-related problem with data analysis.

Ongoing: Regular Review and Adaptation of Learning Goals

  • Objective: Ensure the roadmap adapts to the learner’s pace and emerging industry trends.
  • Activities: Monthly review meetings to assess progress and adjust the learning plan accordingly.

This is just the initial response from the prompt, you can then follow up with ChatGPT and ask it to do things like give you a weekly plan broken down by how many hours you should spend each day, develop a 3 month plan, tell it you want to focus more on a leadership role in data analytics, etc. The possibilities here are endless.

If you want to learn more about how ChatGPT can make you a better leader including more examples, prompts, and how to engage with those prompts, then sign up for Leadership GPT The Top 10 Ways You Can Use ChatGPT To Become A Better Leader. No technical experience is required!
